Thank you for visiting the Emily Murdock Photography blog!  I hope you like what you see.  This blog is a mix of Sneak Peeks for clients, information for want-to-be-clients, and a meeting place for other photographers to learn and share.  Please be sure to leave a comment and let me know you've dropped in!  I will have many contests, give-aways and prizes on this blog as well, so keep checking back!  (or better yet, follow this blog and receive updates on new posts!)

**I will be out on "maternity leave" from May 15 to July 15.  During this time, sessions will not be booked and response to email and phone calls may be delayed.  I will, however, still be taking appointments for the months of August, September, and October, so if you are interested in any of these months, feel free to call or send an email.  Keep checking back with this blog for more info and for some amazing images I've been saving to show you during the weeks I'm "out."  Also, when I return you can expect an improved and updated website as well as an updated blog (with actual blog posts!  Imagine that!!)  Thanks for your continued support of Emily Murdock Photography!!  xoxo, em

Sweet Sandy {Dallas Newborn, Child and Family Photographer}

Sandy and I met at one of my favorite places to take my clients (as you may have noticed, I’ve been there twice in the past couple of weeks!)

She wanted to get some pictures for her husband to drool over (haha, just kidding Sandy!).  I mean, she wanted to get some updated pictures for him to put on his desk at work.

But really.  It was my goal to get some images that he would drool over.

And I succeeded!  What a beautiful woman!

More to come, Sandy.  Can’t wait for you to see all of them! :)

Celebrate LIFE! {Dallas Newborn, Child and Family Photograper}

I want you to meet a very amazing woman.

This is Joy.

Joy has spent the better part of the past year and a half battling cancer.  In her words, “You never think it is really going to happen to you.”  She has met this experience (can it really be called an experience?  It seems like that word doesn’t even touch the breadth and depth of the ordeal…) with faith, grace, and determination and I am better for having met her.

I’d like for you to meet her sweet family.

This is Joy’s husband Alan.  They are so cute together, so obviously in love.

And these two have made the most adorable, sweet, and well-behaved children of all time!  :)

Their littlest one is just a few months younger than my second child.  I fell in love instantly — he is such a charmer!

I love this picture of Mom and her girls.  The oldest, Bethany, is on her way to college.

And here is the whole gang…

It was a pleasure to meet you, W family!  You’re absolutely amazing.

And this might be my favorite image from our time together!

I Love Their Love! {Dallas Wedding Photographer}

I didn’t meet Blake and Lena until the day we did this engagement shoot.  Blake is the son of an amazing couple I know, and he asked sweet Lena to marry him (which makes him a very smart man … she’s a catch!)  I knew that these two and I were going to get along smashingly when I was stalking Blake’s Facebook page.  (Which, as I explained to him, doesn’t make me a stalker — I just wanted to be informed.  It’s not as creepy as it sounds, I promise!  haha!)  I noticed that he listed Dumb and Dumber and Tommy Boy as two of his favorite movies, which happen to be two of my all-time favorite movies.  So I knew we’d be fast friends.  And I knew I’d love Lena because I love a gal who loves a guy who loves Dumb and Dumber.

Anyway, enough talking … here’s some images of this amazingly sweet and beautiful couple!

{These two are sooooooo in love.  It’s absolutely adorable.  I kinda felt a little like an intruder on their little love party … they were just so into each other!  I love fresh love, it’s invigorating to be around people who love each other so much!}

You guys rock.

Can’t wait for the wedding.

{Guys, did you hear me?  Can’t wait for the wedding.  Guys, can’t wait for the wedding.  YOUR wedding, guys.  Can’t wait to be there.  Hint, hint.}

G {Dallas Newborn, Child and Family Photographer}

When I do a newborn session in a family’s home, I look around for the best light.  Sometimes it’s in an unconventional place!

For this shoot, we were in their currently-being-renovated kitchen.  The floor was ripped up, but that was where the light was!  I always Follow the Light!!  :)

So here is sweet G.  He is such a mellow, observant baby.  And he loved everything we did, except when we tried to curl his legs underneath him.  It just wasn’t happening for him, he wanted to s-t-r-e-t-c-h out.  And so we let him :)

Charming {Dallas Newborn, Child and Family Photographer}

Be still my heart!

Little Mr C was so charming for our shoot.  Of course, I knew he was just sucking up to me — after all, I think he’s been courting my little Sophie since he was in the womb ;)    They are totally meant to be!  :)

I love his little face!!  And it was so fun that he was awake for part of our session (happy and awake is always welcome!  haha).  Then, he settled in and drifted off to dream …  and we got some great sleepy shots.  Feast your eyes on this little sweetheart!

Nine Dollar Sale

ninedollarsale

DID YOU MISS THE SALE?  Contact me (emily@emilymurdock.com) to see what awesome deal is going on right now!!  :)

My husband and I celebrated nine years of marriage this week.  I can hardly believe how quickly time passes!  It seems like just yesterday we were young lovebirds making plans for the future, and now we are living the future!  Nine years, three kids, six cities, and one mini-van later, here we are.  And the truth is, I love my sweet husband more today than I ever could have imagined possible.

I know you love someone, too.

There is someone in your life who makes your heart beat.  Who you couldn’t imagine life without.  Is it your spouse?  Your kids?  Your mom, your dad?  Is it your sister or brother or cousin or best friend?

The time moves so quickly.  Through life’s ebbs and flows, there is a need to record these special relationships.  You just never know what the future might bring, and so little of life’s memories are captured.

A photo session is the perfect way to document everything that they mean to you!  And with this incredible sale, there is no excuse not to!

Need a session?  Book at this incredible rate for a session and receive the CD or prints at sale price when you’re ready to order from your session.

Already booked a session that hasn’t yet occurred?  You can pre-purchase prints or a CD at the sale price or receive the sale rate on future orders.

Have a session that already occurred?  You can order additional prints from previous sessions at these prices!  Contact me for more information.

The fine print:

*This sale ends August 8, or whenever the maximum number of sessions has been reached, whichever comes first.  Payment for your session or CD or prints must be received by this date in order to reserve your spot for the sale.  Sessions booked at this rate will receive the sale price for prints and CDs on their future orders.  Sale is on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Please contact me by email (emily@emilymurdock.com) or phone (214-830-0738) to reserve your session!

*This is an extremely limited sale.  I can only sell 10 sessions at this price, so hurry!  Your session can be scheduled for anytime through December 20, 2010.

*You may use this sale for a family, individual, newborn, senior, or engagement session.  Sorry, ninety-nine dollar session offer cannot be applied toward already-scheduled sessions; however, you may purchase CDs or prints at these prices for an already-scheduled session.

One For Tonight {Dallas Newborn, Child and Family Photographer}

Well, I have a BIG announcement I wanted to make tonight.  But.  I have been having computer issues all day and it just isn’t ready.

Tomorrow.  For sure!  Check back with me tomorrow and you won’t be disappointed!

But for tonight, I’ll leave you with one little image from a recent newborn session.  I have four sessions to share with you — I hope that my trusty little computer will stick around long enough for me to get some images up here (and the big announcement too, of course!!)

Meet Tiny and Sweet Miss M……

I’ll see y’all here tomorrow.

P.S.  Can any of you tell me why my colors are so wonky in Wordpress?  They just look so flat compared to what I see in my other programs … can that be fixed?

Angie Bean {Dallas Newborn, Child and Family Photographer}

_EMP8969-1

This beautiful girl is my little sister, Angela.

It was so fun to go out and do a senior photo shoot with her.  I can hardly believe that she’s old enough to be a senior in high school!  But it’s true – senior class president, in fact.  (Man, I suddenly feel old!!)

For more of this super-fun shoot, head over to my other sister Laurel’s blog.  Yep, she’s a photographer too!  Must run in the Busath blood :)

And here are some more images of Angie Bean, as we call her.
